the programme
Tactical training and coaching for early-career managers.
This isn’t a leadership theory course. It’s a practical, high-impact programme for managers who are already doing the job — but haven’t been given the tools to do it well. Yet.
Built for fast-moving companies, The Step Up equips your first layer of leadership to actually lead — with clarity, confidence, and fewer costly mistakes. Because waiting for them to “figure it out” isn’t a strategy. It’s a risk.
who’s it for
Early-career managers (0–3 years in role)
High-potential talent promoted quickly
People managing for the first time — or the second, still winging it
Founders, People teams or leaders who know their managers need support, but don’t have the time to build it internally
what’s included
Two-part tactical training
Hiring – how to identify what you need, run a sharp process, assess candidates properly, and make good hiring decisions.
Leading – how to work out your style, problem solve, run great meetings, give feedback, speak with clarity and confidence, design rituals, keep track of things, handle the hard stuff, and build trust…and a bunch of other stuff.
Coaching
1:1 or small group coaching alongside the training
Space to apply and reflect on what’s learned and work through live challenges
outcomes
By the end of the programme, your managers will:
Know how to hire and onboard effectively
Lead people with more clarity, confidence, and consistency
Navigate real-world challenges like feedback, performance, and team dynamics
Avoid the common (and costly) mistakes
Feel equipped and supported in their role — not left to figure it out alone
what makes it different
Real-world, battle-tested tools, not just frameworks designed by management consultants
Immediate application — no “come back to it later” content
Coaching from someone who’s led teams in high-pressure, high-growth environments
A focus on what actually moves the needle
Lots of demonstrating and role playing - because so often it’s all about the how
Lots of laughing (hopefully) - because it should be fun.
